THE PULSE HIDDEN BENEATH THE BARK.

In the suspended space between Porto and Dublin, I sought the membrane that separates the visible from the felt. Sottopelle explores the friction between surfaces: the vibrant, artificial pelt of a red coat acting as a second skin; the rigid, green geometry of a cycad pressing against the dark.

A study of circulation: blood and sap. The urgent heat of the body and the hydraulic silence of the plant. Light acts as a scalpel here, cutting through shadow to reveal the commonality of matter. Whether in the twist of a root or the angle of a wall, the inquiry remains the same: to locate the single, silent pulsation echoing beneath the bark.
